Global Information

Digital Provenance Center

Advancing trust in the age of AI

A proposed thematic chapter of the UNESCO Media and Information Literacy Alliance, initiated by MIL Alliance member organizations from the Asia-Pacific region and international partners.

Why GICDP?

The rapid proliferation of AI-generated content, deepfakes, and automated disinformation campaigns poses an unprecedented challenge to the global information ecosystem. Traditional post-hoc fact-checking alone is no longer sufficient. A paradigm shift from verification after the fact to pre-emptive certification is urgently needed.

Trust Infrastructure

Building supply-side infrastructure for trustworthy information through digital provenance technology and content credentials standards.

Global Network

Enabling cross-regional and cross-lingual verification collaboration through a globally distributed information credibility certification network.

Multi-stakeholder

Bringing together fact-checkers, educators, technologists, academics, and civil society to ensure technology serves information sovereignty and cultural diversity.

Five Working Pillars

The proposed core work areas that will guide GICDP's mission upon formal establishment.

Standards & Technology

Promoting Content Credentials (C2PA), AI detection tools evaluation, and open-source provenance R&D.

Literacy & Education

Developing digital provenance curricula and delivering localized capacity-building training worldwide.

Research & Advocacy

Publishing annual reports and indices; advancing frontier issues at UNESCO and IGF.

Certification & Evaluation

Technical provenance metrics and compliance evaluation of trusted content credentials.

Policy & Governance

Frontier digital governance policy research and cross-border digital trust sovereignty ethics.
